If you plan on making it to the crest or backside, prepare for elevation gain.
The hike up Cascade canyon to the fork is fairly level. Most everything else is up, up, up.

The hike up Garnet Canyon is breathtaking. If you have any inclination and ability, a summit of the Grand is always a great accomplishment that does not require super human skills.

I hiked Death Canyon last year and thought it was a lovely area and felt remote in the higher up stretches before linking up with the Teton Crest.

The view from Hurricane Pass of the Grand, Middle and South is awesome and the upper stretches of the South Fork of Cascade Canyon is proof that God really did create this Earth.
