Lawn care question for those smarter than I
So last year I put in a small lawn in our backyard and put down Bermuda grass seed. We live in Phoenix. It grew in nicely and looked great. Last winter, I put down seed for perennial ryegrass but after a few weeks of trying to get it to grow just gave up and stopped watering it. I read about how the bermuda grass goes dormant and won't grow again till it gets hot and I stopped watering the grass all winter long. Now that I look back I think that was a big mistake. Now that I have started watering again, parts of the grass are coming out of dormancy but there is still about half of it that looks dry and dead. I'm wondering, will it ever come out of dormancy or did I screw it up by not watering it all winter? Also, it has been much cooler this month than it usually is so I wonder if the lower temperatures are keeping the Bermuda from coming out of dormancy. Any advice would be appreciated.
