Interesting observation from a soccer official regarding the FBI's actions
against FIFA officials, which nicely illustrates the difficulty of rooting out corruption in international organizations like FIFA: much of what we consider to be corruption in the US is not viewed widely as corruption, or as wrong, in many other cultures; they see it much the way many Americans view political contributions to candidates/parties and campaign finance in the US.

Quote:

But one source familiar with CONCACAF's inner workings, who asked not to be identified, expressed doubts that much would change.

"You're getting into questions about what do different cultures have to say about what's right and what's not," said the source. "The U.S. tends to be extremely transparent, although I've had people from outside the U.S. tell me, 'What do you call campaign finance? What do you call a corporation that gives large sums of money to your political parties? Is this not a form of bribery?'

"It depends on what prism you're looking through in terms of whether it's totally right or totally wrong."
