Went to the Disneyland 24 hour day last week. Disney is now in it's Golden Era.
My family renewed our annual passes after a years' hiatus from going to Disneyland and it happened to be the week before the 24 hour day, last week. The 24 hour day (last Friday) was scheduled as the day to kick off the 60th anniversary celebration at Disneyland. I went to the 24 hour day last year, and it was fairly packed... nothing like this... The level of quality they provide and the attention to detail on all of their "Disney 60th anniversary" branding is astounding, and the curiosity of what Disney would do for their 60th is what brought me back.

I also wanted to see the new Matterhorn ride, as this was a favorite of mine as a very young child. It opened back to the public on May 22nd, the 24 hour day.

My family spent the previous Friday at the park, but I had to work on Friday the 22nd. I arrived on Friday after work around 7pm, was turned away at security because the parks were at capacity. I thought "ok well I'll go have dinner with friends/family who were there already". Came back at 11pm, turned away again, park was at capacity and the security checkpoints would not allow us through.

I then went to go see Tomorrowland the movie in the AMC theater in Downtown Disney with our party, thought the movie was very average, then went back to the line at Disneyland at 1:30am... turned away again and decided to wait. Waited until 3am, but the park was still closed. Wait times on the Mousewait app showed that wait times were very low at this point (2-3am)... no way were they at capacity.

So, I drove home at 3am after hanging out at Downtown Disney for 8 hours, ate at the ESPN restaurant which is a very nice experience if you've never tried it, saw a movie there, then drove home. A bit odd, but ok, it was still fun. I never rode the Matterhorn, but went back on Memorial Day with the family for just a few hours. The new Matterhorn is pretty intense now, and the "yeti" is over the top intense.. kids were scared out of their minds.

The special 60th anniversary merchandise is terrific, very ornate pins and home décor, along with some nice things for kids if you're in the market for a 60th anniversary Mickey Mouse toy or a cool looking 60th anniversary castle. The amount of entertainment they offer is incredible, and still a very good find for the price.

Disney has so much to offer, Marvel, Star Wars, etc.. they're truly in their Golden Era.
