Hard for me to pick Oscar over Magic. In his first 10 years in the NBA when he
was putting up incredible stats his team made the playoffs 5 out of the 10 years. Not very good. When you realize that when he came into the league 6 out of 8 teams made the playoffs it is really bad (in his last year with Cincinatti the NBA "only" allowed 8 out of the 14 teams to make the playoffs. He only won 2 playoff series in those 10 years and his team was absolutely one of the worst in the league over that time frame.

Oscar went on to play his last 4 years with Milwaukee and won a title in his first year. Kareem was by far the best player on that team and Oscar's numbers across the board went WAY down the first year in Milwaukee and continued in that trend.

So how good was he? He won 1 MVP, which is impressive. His stats are very impressive, but you know who he reminds me of? Russell Westbrook. When Durant went down Westbrook absolutely went off and per 100 possessions was averaging better numbers than Oscar did. Is Westbrook the greatest of all-time? What if he did that year in and year out and his team was horrible and never made the playoffs?
Westbrook wasn't even 1st team All-NBA this past year despite averaging more points per 36 minutes than Oscar ever did (29.5 for Westbrook, the best Oscar ever did was 25.7), 9 assists per 36 minutes (Oscar only had two better seasons at 9.1 and 9.2) and 7.6 rebounds per 36 minutes which would have been 5th best in Oscars career. These numbers aren't even tempo adjusted as I don't have access to Oscar's stats per 100 possessions (everyone in the league had inflated numbers back then compared to today due to pace of play).

Anyway, Oscar is certainly the people's champion when it comes to raw stats (instead of tempo adjusted efficiency stats). For some reason his greatness never translated to actual wins (you know the reason you play the game). You can have Russell Westbrook and I will take Steph Curry. I would take Magic over Oscar 10 times out of 10. The vast majority of the educated basketball fans would agree with me (although I'm sure not all).
