To each his own. I did like that almost every time they got outdoors (which wasn't often enough), I knew where they were.

As for the lighthouse, the public lost direct access to the building & its adjoining beach shortly after the film was made (entirely incidental to the filming). The closest you can get nowadays is a couple hundred yards away. It was a favorite place to harvest mussels (for pasta sauce) as a kid.
