I get that the expression/acronym "SGC" was once cute and is now commonplace here on Cougarboard. I don't usually get upset by much here on these boards, but seeing SGC really upsets me. Luke Staley was one of the best football players to ever pass through Provo and has did a lot for the program. I met and talked to him a couple times (stood next to him in the graduation line in '03) and believe he's a class guy. Making a joke of the fact that he got injured and cut after making tons of money for signing an NFL contract just doesn't seem right to me, especially now more than a decade after the fact (BTW, Detroit has signed some great Cougs in the last decade). I wish someone would come up with a new way of saying "this is probably old news" without disparaging one of our all-time greats.
To take a stand on this issue I am going to start thumbing down every post that uses the SGC regardless of how good or bad the actual post is. I encourage others to join me. Can I thumb down my own post?
