This whole anti-SGC movement is completely ridiculous. It's the exact opposite of the way you claim he takes it and the way you hypersensitive softies are looking at it.
It was a huge deal to us that Luke didn't make it in the pros. While I wasn't on the board at the time, it is clear that the news was reposted so many times that it became the event that exemplified the tendency this board has to report something on here long after it should be clear that everybody here knows. That's a compliment to how important Luke was to BYU fandom at that time.
The fact that we still use that acronym long after Luke's time with the Lions ended, in spite of all the crazy stuff that has happened since then (Crowton, Bronco, Independence, Heaps, Jimmer, etc.) is actually a huge sign that Luke is still important to us, and he should be proud that he still has that much influence. No one is bagging on him for how his pro career turned out; injuries happen to tons of great players.
Go ahead and thumbs down the post, if you want; I don't plan on discontinuing my usage of the term.
