Over the weekend we tore apart the back bar at our house to redo the lighting on it. When we put it back together we decided to feature local liquors such as High West, Sugar House, the polygamy themed one that would probably get me suspended for mentioning its name, etc. On the shelf where we have the vodkas, I placed a bottle of Salt City Vodka and noticed that it has a representation of the Salt Lake City skyline on it including the Salt Lake Temple.
I remember when the coffee shop tried to use the Moroni statue in its ads the LDS Church was able to stop it claiming copyright/trademark infringement because the image of Moroni is trademarked or copyrighted (I really don't remember which) to the LDS Church. Does anyone know if the LDS Church likewise has rights to the image or silhouette or outline of the temple? Is it possible to trademark the shape of a building?
Just curious.
