Just checked and per the ADA, owner dentists average 35.7 hours/wk in office
Working 47.6 weeks per year.

Very little compared to typical business owners, who work 52 hours per week with an average of two weeks off. So even owner dentists work only about 2/3 as much.

Sure, liability issues are big, but I'm guessing dentists worry less about collection. They also have self-contained offices. As soon as you send an employee out in a car, potential problems jump upward. Plus dental employees seem to be superior and more reliable in general.

But those hours are the kicker. Combine working a lot fewer hours with excellent pay and the ability to scale up and down as desired and though I'm sure it's plenty stressful, I just don't see how you could say that owner dentists have one of the most stressful jobs of all.
