If the goalie is close enough for a slight tap to possibly get past him, any decent goalie is going to take the ball right off of your feet. Remember, he can use his hands, and he can take you out, as long as he gets the ball first. A one on one with a goalie usually requires a sudden or deceptive move, and can easily put the attacker off balance, creating a more challenging finish. No way is that easier than a dead ball kick from 12 yards out, and the keeper unable to close the angle.
