Exum is the Future. Very high upside as a defender, and quick enough that he will be able to get to the rim on offense. His shooting was much better than I expected as a rookie, and I think it will improve a lot. Need to give him time. He won't be anywhere near a finished product next year, or even the year after that. I trust Snyder to help him become a very good PG.
I was as excited as anyone when the Jazz got Burke. I thought he could be a Chris Paul light and a very good facilitator. I have been as unimpressed as anyone with 2 things. 1) His shooting. His percentages have been horrible, and his selection has been atrocious. 2) His desire to facilitate. He just looks to shoot. I no longer see him as a potential top 15 PG in the NBA. I do think he can improve and be a serviceable backup though. He was asked to take on a scoring role, and didn't have much help with the second team. Burks got injured, and Hood missed much of the season. He was playing a lot with Milsap, Ingles, Booker and Gobert, all offensively deficient. I think his percentage will improve with added offensive help. Jazz may make the playoffs this year, but they won't compete for a title most likely. Jazz can trade Burke at the deadline, or after the season. Hopefully he improves so they can get more value out of him. Maybe he has a huge jump this year. Jazz can find a backup PG next offseason if they don't think Burke is the one to help them make a run at the title.
Hanlan and Cotton are both potential 3rd string PG. Don't see either as anything more than a Ronnie Price or Sandiata Gaines type player. Good for a spark of the bench every once in a while, but I'm not planning on either playing 15-20 minutes every game for a contender in the future. Maybe one of them surprises, but I'm not expecting it. Burke may end up being similar role as well, but I think he has more potential than either of them. Teams need a 3rd PG though, and one of them is gonna win the job and hopefully do it pretty well for the Jazz. Maybe hanlan finds a spot as a combo guard too.
Neto, if he comes over great. Would love a Brazilian on the team. But no need. Don't think he brings much more than the other players do. Wait 1-2 years and he can be someone that is more ready to contribute on a cheaper contract for a few years.
Point is, Jazz are now in development mode. They have their core together, and they just need them to gel. They will add a piece here or there, but I don't think backup PG is that big of a deal right now. If Burke doesn't improve they will need to find someone, but I don't think they need to do that right now.
