The hardware for dish is much better. The DVR is much, much more responsive. Instant skips. Hopper is much better than genie. Plus you get the Pac 12 network, which is a bonus. Oh, and you get dish anywhere, which is the greatest thing ever. I watch TV on my phone all the time. It's usually cheaper, too.

I had dish, switched to direct, and my wife and I just about went crazy. The LAAAAAGGGGG of the remotes just sucks.
