TNT did not hear the entire interview but here were some interesting notes:
Jake confirmed back in 2011 when BYU was negotiating with the Big 12 someone at BYU rubbed some Big 12 officials the wrong way. He said he has not been told specific details but has heard numerous Big 12 leaders mention this. He thinks that the Big 12 may eventually get over those bad feelings but for now they are still present. Jake did use the phrase "high maintenance."
He also said that BYU's relationship with ESPN would be a plus in this situation.
He also said when the Big 12 added WVU that had somewhat confirmed the Big 12 going east. He said, whether real or not, there is a perceived promixity issue with Provo.
Also that Nebraska may be somewhat regretting their move to the Big Ten as Iowa appears to be their rival now. Few people outside of those markets care about that game. Even folks in Lincoln probably don't care too much about it. However the chances of Nebraska coming back to the Big-12 are slim.
Both Texas A&M and Missouri (?) had issues with Texas. Oklahoma and Texas are what keeps the conference stable. If either of those leave (with Oklahoma being the most likely down the road) that could change what the Big 12 is.
