2J is doing great
when he started byu was so bad on the OL; he literally had almost nothing to work it. Its not like they can turn it around over night. The OL has made progress each year. Are they outstanding yet? No, but they are much improved, especially run blocking.

Frankly, a lot of the top LDS talent on the OL aren't considering byu for several reasons, which is why 2J and company have been thinking outside the recruiting box to bring in guys from Tx and Polynesians to supplement the line while hitting on a top lds guy or two. I like this strategy much better than recruiting soft, tall, and under the radar Mormon guys who come back from missions and have a hard time, which type byu was bringing in prior to 2J.

And as far as technique and toughness, 2J is a French disciple, and that's what carried byu's success for years.
