with attendees just what happened to the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence and what they sacrificed for their country. For those not familiar it this well worth the few minutes to look this up. They gave their all in most cases.
While preparing for the breakfast festivities I was thinking that it would be great if our Ward could sign a Declaration just as our forefathers did... and then I got an idea, what if, in honor of these great original signers, we were to sign a copy of the Proclamation on the Family and send the signed document to Pres. Monson. So, with the Bishop's permission, that is just what we did this morning. Monday our Proclamation will be in the mail to the Church offices.
I saw children insist with parents that they sign the document... a handicapped brother who was a recent convert waited til nearly all had come forward and with his limited ability scrawled the printed letters of his name... and many others unable to walk or stand insisted that have the opportunity to sign as well.
For me it was a touching scene as just over 200 made their way forward to sign the Proclamation on the Family. Simply touched my heart and made my day!
