Independence Day in Seward, Alaska: Running of Mount Marathon
3000 ft climb up and down over 5 km. It's an amazing race with great hometown and state support.

Spending the 4th of July watching one the most famous mountain runners in the world come into Seward and crush the Mt. Marathon record. Kilian Jornet from Spain set a new record in the men's Mount Marathon race in his first time running the race, and his girlfriend, Emelie Forsberg of Sweden, took three minutes off the women's record.

Very fun, exciting races. The most amazing performance was Allie Ostrander of Kenai who ran the second fastest time ever in the women's race, breaking the 25 year old record time. She just graduated from high school two months ago.

Kind of tough to have the Alaskan's records broken, but it's good for the race and competition.

BYU grad Matt Novakovich had a tough race (he won in 2012).

Great coverage by KTVA and fellow BYU alum Jake Edmunds.
