People do not benefit from welfare unless they are committing fraud
People who say otherwise do not know much about welfare. All welfare together isn't enough to prosper on. One can survive on it but they aren't living the high life by any means.

My first job out of college was working for Department of health and human services working with welfare recipients. I never met a single person who enjoyed being on welfare. I met a lot of people who were grateful for it but none who really wanted it. Most people who receive welfare don't for long unless they have some sort of emotional or physical disability that prevents them from working some menial job which then disqualifies them from welfare.

The majority of people on welfare are 1) Young single moms who don't receive child support, 2) young married college students with kids, 3) older women with emotional and/or physical disabilities. #1 bounces on and off welfare until they get things figured out. #2 doesn't stay on for long. #3 unfortunately there isn't much hope for them.

I can't wait to hear about all your welfare queen examples and about how the whole system needs to be taken down because of her. I'm sure she exists out there somewhere because statistical probabilities - but her story is always the same story rehashed over and over again passed on by people who have a bias against the system. She is a small minority of the cases and is probably committing fraud to begin with.
