RE: What hasn't been thought of yet, in regards to BYU to BIG 12?
The situation is so fluid and can quickly turn on a dime. All we heard last round was no chance a Texas school would be invited. A few beers later TCU was in. Then, for some reason, going east and getting closer to population centers (why? they don't even have a conference network to follow the B1G model) and they quickly invite a mediocre school that's nowhere near any current schools. Now future expansion has to cater to WV. Despite TCU continuing to play strong on the field, that last round of expansion was pathetic for the B12.

I think they need to get to know who BYU. BYU is an excellent academic university in an amazing location. It's owned by the church but this is about academics, and sports. Religion will not play any factor other than no Sunday play. They need to see that the people of BYU are completely normal, and beyond that, extremely well grounded and smart. I agree with visiting the campus and the area, absolutely should happen.

BYU can offer excellent football, men's basketball, and top olympic sports. Fans travel well, and there is solid alum population in B12 country. BYUtv can broadcast B12 sports to 68 million homes plus everything can be streamed. They wouldn't be looking to cash in on tier 3 rights the way the LHN does. If the conference ever moved to a B12 network, I believe BYUtv would step aside. Who else has their own HD truck? You can't tell me the fans of those schools who can't dream of starting their own network wouldn't be absolutely thrilled to see a few more games each year on BYUtv.

BYU brings in a new time zone for later game starts. SLC is the 33rd largest TV market and Utah's population is going to double within a couple decades. BYU is a national brand, and well respected. The B12 desperately needs more schools that can bring legitimacy to the conference. I get so tired of hearing how far it is from Provo to Morgantown as if every school will have to make that flight constantly. Hello? That only affects BYU and WV, and only the school that has to travel that year. OOC games has every school (except the SEC) traveling multiple time zones all the time. BYU is close enough to the rest of the conference that it's not a problem.
It is okay to expand in two directions. Get WV a buddy so they will quit crying. BYU won't whine for a moment being the only school on the west side.

They lost Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri, A&M...HUGE losses. TCU and WV is a joke of a replacement. No wonder Oklahoma is upset.

Sure, they can sit on their hands dreaming of Florida St. and Clemson but sitting idle just because you can (BYU isn't going anywhere) is clearly detrimental to the league. One good move and they can jump back into the conversation as a top conference. I believe the money thing can be worked out also.

Someone much smarter than me should definitely be putting together a killer presentation and take it to each university's leadership. We can't do it with a few beers, so our approach is going to take a little more work and simply saying "we want in" isn't quite enough. BYU has to show the B12 how it helps THEM to get BYU.
