if you didn't do anything physically to warrant the punch first, you should be
this isn't the exact scenario that you are trying to draw a parrallel to, though.
you'd have to include that you were pushing the other person in the back while approaching a bar and then grabbed their arm first, THEN you were punched.
You could argue that you grabbed them because you thought they were going to hit you first, though. Would be a decent argument.
