It would be a lot harder to apply on an old floor with dirt and grime on it. Ours was brand new, so it was just a matter of hosing it down and etching with acid.

Been in the house for 8 years now and it's pulled up a bit where the car tires are, but still looks pretty sharp and makes cleaning spills easier.
