and on certain channels, rebroadcast rights, third tier tv rights, wanting guarantees that Oklahoma and Texas would not leave, and wanting full membership from day 1 instead of taking partial money the first few years. People were calling out TCU and Utah out for basically conceding anything to get in and how BYU would never do that.

I think the guarantees were what sunk it for BYU. It seemed like BYU was ready to join until Missouri bolted and left the conference very unstable. BYU could have looked at the instability as an opportunity to get all sports in with Sunday play being worked around, instead it looked at it as too big of a risk. I think the other big issue was around TV after BYU got screwed with the MTN. They wanted specifics nailed down and the big 12 was just trying to get back to stability. People can say these are just rumors but it is very interesting that BYU has been able to schedule numerous games with all the other P5s but the big 12.
