I agree, he did all this stuff AFTER he committed to BYU
and this took place in a rather affluent area - not a hopeless place where he had no chance of escaping. if this kid somehow makes it to Provo, he's not going to change. All he might end up doing is influencing some other kids before he ultimately gets kicked out.
