It's because we are the highest profile team on their schedule regularly.
Their winning regularly over the Nevada's, Fresno and Utah State's of the MWC loses its luster quickly. We are the only other team that is currently scheduled to play them year in and year out outside of their MWC foes.
Thus, we are the team that they are currently considering their rivals, regardless of their scoreboard ownage. That and their natural rivals, the UI Vandals suck and aren't on their schedule every year.
