Exploded. Texas, OK and maybe a couple others go to other P5 conferences (Pac/big10/maybe SEC?) and the rest find homes amidst the MWC, ACC, etc. (Except BYU. . .that's coming)
the NCAA maintains playoff/NY6 access as previously proscribed, with the exception that BYU is given Notre-dame like access to the Fiesta Bowl and Cotton Bowl, where BYU is guaranteed a spot at one of those bowls if they go undefeated or lose 1 game (and aren't selected for playoff). BYU is contracted with another couple of bowls (a la Alamo bowl down to Las Vegas Bowl) if they go 10-2 or 9-3. . .to be "in the mix" for selection. But guaranteed a tie-in to Poinsettia/Holiday level bowl if bowl eligible.
With that kind of Access and no Big XII, does BYU stay with Independence indefinitely, make a bid for another P5, or reluctantly accept being the big dog in a little pound and go to MWC, American, or the like?
