On average, players who have more stars turn out to be better players
This is indisputable. Your examples mean nothing, because no one is claiming that four or five stars guarantee excellent performance in college.

Where was the insightful talent evaluation with Scotty Ebert or Jerry Bruner or Michael Yeck or the boatload of two-star guys who have fizzled out or been the preponderance of players that we've seen take the field for the Y the past five mediocre years? Or with the guys we have passed on who have gone to other schools and done well? Bronco's success with two-star players is about the same as the average; it's just easy to ignore that by focusing heavily on guys like Hoff and Tejan.
