This is important too. The beauty of a Silverado is that if you aren't
expecting to keep the care for 100,000 miles a pick 'n pull will have a tranny for cheap. Find a good indy shop to put the new tranny in and replace the fluid and filter (I am NOT a fan of power flushing old trannys).

Chances are, you'd get close to another 100k for under $1000.

My dad did this when our '84 Accord's tranny failed at 240k miles. Spent $500 for a pick n' pull, he did the work himself, and we drove the car up onto the Kidney Foundation's flatbed at 316k on the same tranny.
