The guide lured the lion off the preserve. He is deservedly getting prosecuted for poaching. But the death threats are targeted at the hunter who may have (although I am skeptical) acted in good faith and followed every rule. Why? Presumably because he is the rich, arrogant American everyone hates. I guess like any story that blows up, not a lot of deep thinking is driving it.
