^^^This. Not to mention that BYU grads are more likely to have bigger families
and have only one parent working in the home than the general population. More mouths to feed on fewer paychecks can make it hard enough as is. When you consider that most give 10% (plus fast offerings and savings for missions) it isn't too hard to see why BYU alumni donor rates aren't higher.
