Does anyone else find it ironic that all these P5 coaches are chiming in about what ND/independents or other conferences need to do (championship game) to qualify for the CFP? The whole shift to the Power 5 structure came about because they wanted autonomy and deregulation. Autonomy goes both ways.
"Without a doubt I think that's the next big shift in college football, is to standardize or make uniform the number of conference games, conference championships, everyone belong to a conference," Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said. "I think that's the next wave you're going to see, is that will be the big push, much like the NFL. Make things more standard throughout college football."
I guess when the rubber hits the road the P5 (as a collective) only wanted autonomy from the poor of the college football world, not from each other (also, I get that it is only coaches coming out and saying that ND should join a conference, and they are more concerned about competitive advantage than autonomous governance, which lies with school administrators, but still).
