smoke. During the first game we realized the upper half of the student section was covered in a haze of marijuana smoke. The stadium was packed, so we had nowhere else to go. From the second game on, we always looked for empty seats outside the student section and had a great time. We take our kids to a few Cal games every year without problem... we just make sure to avoid the student section.

The same can't be said for Raiders and 49ers games. I've been to two of each and have found myself in clouds of mj haze at all four games... and there were drunken fights nearby at all four. At a Raiders-Broncos game in 2009, we had a full-blown riot in the section next to us that was the most violence I've ever witnessed in-person. All four games were awful experiences. Even if I get free tickets, I don't think I'll ever go to another NFL game.
