(starting when I was 10) of following BYU football with passion that passion has essentially gone away and I find myself a casual fan. Not being from Utah I remember the days of refreshing email every few minutes hoping HB arnetts email newsletter would arrive. Before the internet I loved going to the grocery store and seeing the college football previews and reading the BYU preview right there in the store when it seemed like every year could be the year and then buying it and taking it home and memorizing all the names. Even many a hunting trip where we'd take a radio and find some high mountain and listen to KSL and Paul James fade in and out.

But today, BYU football just doesnt do it for me anymore. I used to think it was Bronco but I no longer do. Its me, it isnt really BYU, its that I'm MUCH less a fan of college football now than I was in the 90's when bowl games over the holidays were amazing back to back to back and matchups between the different conferences in games like the Rose Bowl where something I looked forward to seeing, even though BYU wasnt playing. But college football changed, and it for me hasnt been for the better. Traditional rivalries, dead. Super conferences in the name of more $$$$ are thriving. But college football hasnt gone a way I've liked overall although the playoff I do love. BYU....well college football evolved and what made BYU fun and entertaining ---- the passing game --- kind of became the norm.

I find myself MUCH more a fan of BYU basktball than ever before but my BYU football fandom is at an all time low which coincides with my college football fandom being pretty low too. BYU will always be my team I am sure and I have no interest in switching to another program but in general it just isnt as fun anymore to me. What a weird place to be....
