This Year Will Show How Good of a Defensive Coach Bronco Really Is
Everyone feels like the offense will be good, possibly very good. As far as the offense goes, a lot will depend on O-Line play and whether or not they're hit with key injuries.

Having said that, many on CB are talking about how bad the defense was last year, and that we're likely to see more of the same this year. This line of thinking leads many to conclude that even with a healthy Taysom and a strong offense, BYU will lose at least 3 or 4 games because the defense is likely to give up 30+ points a game.

So the question is how good will the defense actually be? I really have no idea. If the defense is bad, BYU will likely be in a lot of shootouts. If the defense is even adequate, BYU will win a lot of games. If the defense is significantly better than expected, it's not unrealistic to believe that BYU will be in every game with a realistic chance to win each one.

From what I've read and heard, there hasn't been much in terms of personnel upgrades to the defense this year, so any improvements will come from a bit more experience in the program for some players, and Bronco's more hands-on approach. It will be very interesting to see what kind of magic he can work on the defensive side of the ball. He'll get some help if the offense can sustain drives. But GFGH can hurt the defense, giving them less rest between drives.

I would describe myself as "cautiously hopeful." I can see the potential for a really good season, but I can also see a lot of potholes along.

Should be a very interesting year.
