I don't disagree that in an ideal world, the Pac-whatever is where we should be.

But it's not an ideal world. For us to have any shot at playing in the Pac-12/14/16, we probably have to join the Big 12 first and then hope someday people with the power to actually make sweeping changes realize how screwed up college football is and make sense of things geographically by going to 4 or 8 regions of P5 programs.
