Five BYU ruggers have been named to the USA Rugby First team All-American side. They are:

• Johnny Linehan
• Luke Mocke
• Kyle Sumsion
• Jared Whippy
• Josh Whippy

In addition to them, Tua Laei was named to the Second team, and Arawa Elkington made Honorable Mention.

Five players from Cal made the first team, five from St. Mary's, and one from Life.
Four Golden Bears made it to the 2nd team, one Gael, and one Running Eagle.
And finally, three UoC players, no SMC player, and one player from LU made Honorable Mention.

That makes the total number of All-Americans from the top four sides in the country as:

• Cal: 12
• BYU: 7
• SMC: 6
• Life: 3

The results last year were similar where Cal had the lion's share of the all-Americans even though BYU defeated Cal and finished the season ranked ahead of them. Does this mean that Coach Smyth does more with what he's got than Coach Clark?
