BYU staff, security, BYUtv all operate on Sunday with paid staff. I'm sure the church has a reason why. Someone has determined that these must be ox in the mire situations. I'm sure there is a very convincing argument to simply not operate those facilities on Sunday, but the church does it anyway.
Another example is in the middle east, services are held on Saturday and BYU facilities operate on Sundays. Again these could be circumstances where the church made a choice to make an exception. They could easily stand their ground and hold to Sunday.
I'm only saying that there is precedence for exceptions. I've heard that the church would never do this, but there have been exceptions. In this very unique situation where what has been considered a massive missionary tool could be at risk, there could be an argument for an exception.
