farther down the wrist, looking longer, the 35. But by buttoning the wrist shorter, keeps the sleeve up a bit, hence the 34. Not sure if true or not, I always used the larger wrist opening

Why do some shirts have two numbers for sleeve length (e.g.., 17-34/35)?

34/35 means 34 inner seam and 35 outer seam. 17 is neck size.

I'm definitely a 17.5 neck, but I'm like 35.5 on the sleeve.

broad or narrow shoulders are the biggest factor, and wrist girth!

Exactly. A 34/35 sleeve length shirt actually has a sleeve that is 34.5 inches
