Kurt was talking about being new in the NFL and joining the Packers, where in addition to Favre, the QBs on the team were Detmer and Mark Brunell.
He said that in the film room, when asked about the coverages by coaches Favre would stumble around and guess, and just generally sound like he didn't know what he was talking about. He said Detmer was a master at recognizing coverages, and that he knew every single coverage and the appropriate read in every situation, and was an amazing football mind.
Ultimately his point was that Favre, even with his "aw shucks, I dunno" demeanor, had the intangibles when it came to playing the game. But it was cool to hear his take on Detmer as well. I think everyone generally knows that about Ty and that's why he held a clipboard in the league for so long, because he was basically another coach and offensive mind that could help the team.
Rekindles my curiosity as to whether we will ever see Ty on the BYU sidelines in a coaching capacity. Has he ever spoken about whether that would be something he would be interested in doing?
