Is it even possible to get back to where you were after an injury like last years?

I know I'm ignorant to the medical facts but to a guy without a healthcare background I see that injury and think there's no way a person can fully recover from that.

I get it, with a knee injury they claim you can actually come back stronger but what Taysom went through I wonder to what extent one could get back to the same as before?
