My daughter was a 3.7-3.8 and only had a 27 ACT, but she had 3 varsity sports, business associations competitions, charitable work and leadership roles and that really put her ahead of some with better academic creds.

I also recommend you go to one of the Admissions Program Outreach firesides. My daughter made a great contact in Admissions who could be on the lookout for her application. It's an invaluable and otherwise impossible resource for an out of state kid.
