Wow, this explains why my HS scores in the
Lower tier in Utah with minimal offered AP classes, yet everyone I know who applies to BYU (including myself so long ago) gets admitted.
Thinking back at our HS alumni who did go to BYU, most got excellent grades, graduated in hard science fields and a high percentage went on to grad school for masters or law degrees at top-tier schools.
I probably represented the worst with a 3.3-3.5 cumulative GPA in engineering and no post-grad degree.
