I took it to mean football only was not an option in eyes of P5 conferences.
There are several comentators out there that have said/opined the same. Adding a football only school to the B12 isn't nearly the show of stability and strength that adding a solid program for all sports would be.
To me, BYU would be happy with football only - the B12 might not find that option desirable. The B12 could verywell prefer a different program for all-sports over BYU for football only. . .
