Conference. I was a grad student at Missouri back in the day and it was known as MU. Here's the conference:

MU=Missouri
NU=Nebraska
OU=Oklahoma
OSU=Oklahoma State
KU=Kansas
KSU=Kansas State
CU=Colorado
ISU=Iowa State
