When I lived in Southern California we always went in the water. I would never

describe it as freezing. Sure it isn't 80 degree water like Hawaii but your kids can take it. I was just back down a couple of years ago and went boogie boarding on Thanksgiving.

I'm guessing it is still in the mid 70s right now and will probably be mid 60s in October. Kids will play in that with no problem.
