The previous scheme was a 2-gap scheme, so the DL played a lot of paddy cakes before attacking the LOS in order to read the play. This scheme is very spill and swarm. DL gets up field fast. Obviously pros and cons to both, but personally I would rather get beat big forcing a team to handle pressure with composure then the Bo Pelini death by 1000 cuts defense.
