2 gap 3-4 makes sense on the DL
Sure it freezes the big fellas, but it protects the LBs which are constantly blitzing. Nebraska played a very conservative 2-gap DL scheme with Cover 2 zone/man shell behind it. It was wait and see scheme which was meant to make an offense nickel and dime, but over the course of a game it just wore our guys down. At this point, football has protected the offense to the point of castrating the defense, so instead of trying to get a turnover on downs, teams need to create their own turnovers. If you aren't grabbing picks or fumbles, youre probably losing. Teams need to factor in the big plays given up as part of the game and go for the throat.
