Yes
And for many with ADHD it is crucial to get it diagnosed.

When I was 23 I dropped out of college for the 2nd time, couldn't keep a relationship, and struggled mentally to do anything that wasn't simple and fun. Example: I had to write a check for rent every month but I would literally write the check the last possible day every month because it was boring. I couldn't keep a job for more than 2 months without wanting a new one.

I thought I was just lazy, dumb, and self centered.

That same year in a conversation with a family friend who is a psychiatrist it became very clear I had ADHD. I never thought it was a possibility because I wasn't hyperactive physically. I did some research, visited with a doctor and quickly learned it was ADHD that was the root of my problems.

Finding out I wasn't just "dumb" was huge for me. Knowing that I had a legitimate issue was a huge blessing for me. It gave me hope and understanding. I started taking medication and studying ways to function at a high level. I was able to finish a 4 year degree in 3 years with a good GPA and start my own business with good success. I still have ADHD--some days are worse than others, but for the most part I have learned how to overcome it with good success. Again, for me the greatest blessing was just knowing that it wasn't me being lazy and unreliable for no reason- I had a mental disorder. It gave me a lot of confidence to know my enemy so to speak.
