A good chunk of the ADHD medications have short half lives
And live for a short time in your system. There is a focus today for practitioners to work through various options to ensure that "who you are" does not change.

My wife is a pharmacist, and through her I have boned up on understanding the meds. (My son was previously diagnosed with ADHD.) I may be off on adults, therefore, but the evidence is pretty clear that the quality of life for the individuals taking the meds improves greatly and, so long as it is monitored well, has no long-term effects.

Imagine your child has chronic headaches, and there's medication out there that can assist. You've tried working with him or her on meditation techniques, and they have helped somewhat but it is still an issue. You'd want them to begin therapy and medication, I would assume. Why is it different for ADHD? Why is it different for you? (Really, meant as questions to ponder and not meant as a "you're stupid for not taking the meds".)

Feel free to BM me to discuss if you ever would like to.
