To be clear, BYU could theoretically join the B12 for 2016 anytime between now and the start of the football season in 2016 (although in practice I recognize that scheduling with one week's notice is not in any way feasible) because we have no conference that we're required to notify one year in advance of leaving. Correct?

That said, the B12 wouldn't expand unless it's going to 12 teams, in which case it would invite at least one more team, and that team would have to notify its conference at least one year in advance. (Unless it was Notre Dame, of course. Nobody expects that as far as I've heard.) Since the announcement of both teams is likely to come around the same time, I'm thinking that either the announcement for BYU B12 2016 will either happen this week or not at all.
