I think it's mostly an indication of how much he values position mastery
He'll play a less athletic player who knows their position well than a more athletic player who is still figuring it out. Witness the way he eased Van Noy into his role.
Since experienced players are more likely to have their assignments down, they are more likely to play.
However, it is interesting to note how effusive Bronco can be of younger players IF they know their assignments.
